As for English people assuming the whole world speaks english - they mostly do! It is a problem for most brits because there is no motivation to learn other languages - because everyone wants to learn and speak english - which of course is now THE international language of the world. I have discovered that most young Romanians speak excellent english - sometimes even better than many english people I know.
